Mike, Jon and Connor were a three piece band together called Spectrum throughout all four years of high school (2007-2010). In March of 2012, Jon and Connor came back together with our friend Sal on bass to self-record 3 original songs using only 2 microphones in the basement of our friend Kadums parent’s house in Westford. The purpose of those demo tracks was to be entered in for a chance to get a spot on the URI Hempfest 2012 line-up in April under the name “Timeless”. We did not play Hempfest 2012…

The band played only two shows…the summer of 2012 with Sal on bass, Mike on drums/guitar, Connor on lead guitar/drums and Jon on guitar, lead vocals and harmonica. Those 2 shows were on the same day for 2 separate summer parties (Thank you Ed and Evan).

Ben had been our very close buddy since about the 5th grade. He had been noodling around on his brother's bass during the previous couple semesters at URI and would come and jam with us just for the sake of noodling with his buddies while we practiced. It did not take long before he knew all of our songs and had even written his own parts to most of them. August 24 2012, the four of us played our first show together, (ben’s first show ever) as “The Tymes”… Ben got us the gig.

NOW:

We are moving forward in our journey as "Vinyl Square".
It has been two and a half years since, and we have recorded two sets of EPs and are working on our first full length album. We have played over 50 shows on sweet stages like The Hard Rock Café Boston numerous times, The Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, MA, The Middle East in Cambridge and even live on 91.5fm WUML! We have also had our previous recording of “Stay Awake” aired on 106.3 Frank FM multiple times!

In the near future we have plans to move into a house together in Nashville, TN as a band in a town where music is happening and growing.

Until then, the plan is to get our new EP released and out there while we finish recording our first album, play more shows, write songs and learn more about our craft. And to get out of the state!
Civil Holdup
Civil Holdup
Civil Holdup is a hardworking original rock band from the Philadelphia area based out of Pennsville, New Jersey. With songs varying from dark and beautiful to fun and energetic, Civil Holdup's original material is interesting and different. Civil Holdup songs span multiple genres including rock, alternative, and folk-rock with a sound similar to Band of Horses, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Cage the Elephant, and Incubus. In addition to these bands, Civil Holdup draws influences from artists like Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine, and Tool.

Civil Holdup projects these multiple moods through dramatic live performance and thoughtful song writing. The songs are musically and instrumentally complex, but easy to enjoy. Civil Holdup focuses on the listener. Catchy and thought provoking vocals - addictive and memorable guitar riffs - powerful, creative bass lines - and intricate, thundering drums. Civil Holdup's songs have much to offer any listener and its live performances showcase strong musicianship and a hardworking stage presence. Music that is too simple can be bland and forgettable, while music that is overly complex can be hard to enjoy - Civil Holdup falls right in between those extremes.

Civil Holdup's past few years have shown monumental growth and potential. With the release of their debut 5-song EP in 2013, Civil Holdup gained strong local support, radio play, and earned the opportunity to perform and headline at renowned venues like the Trocadero and World Cafe Live. After two years of writing and over a year in the studio, Civil Holdup has taken the next step forward as a band by recording their first full length album, "Blind Man's Dream" - set to release in Q3, 2015. With it's first single, "Either Way", the album will further improve Civil Holdup's prominence within the Philadelphia local rock scene and beyond - all born from a basement practice space doubling as a brewery.
